Md. Atikul Islam is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. He received his Doctor of Science in Food and Nutrition from Chosun University, Republic of Korea. His research interests cover analytical chemistry and phytochemistry. He specializes in elemental, volatile and non‑volatile organic compound analysis using ICP‑MS, ICP‑OES, GC‑MS and HPLC‑DAD. Dr. Islam has an h‑index of 11 with numerous publications in related fields. RESEARCH INTEREST - Development of rapid and non‑destructive on‑site methods for detecting food adulteration using redox colorometric solution or microfluidic paper‑based analytical device - Identification of target or indicator compounds for detecting adulteration or contaminants in traditional foods and medicinal plants - Development of non‑destructive methods for detecting food adulteration using ATR‑FTIR spectroscopy combined with chemometric analysis - Chemical analysis of volatile and non‑volatile organic compounds in food, plant, biological, and environmental samples using GC‑MS, LC‑MS/MS, and HPLC‑DAD - Analysis of major, trace, and toxic elements in food, plant, biological, and environmental samples using ICP‑OES and ICP‑MS

Researcher and Doctoral Supervisor, Institute of Apiculture, Jiangxi Agricultural University. His main work covers research and teaching in honey‑bee biology. He has been selected for the Jiangxi Provincial Training Program for Leading Academic and Technical Talents. He is one of the 3rd‑batch Young Professors and the 9th‑batch “Future Star” scholars of Jiangxi Agricultural University. He obtained his joint‑training PhD at Macquarie University, Australia, and was a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. He has presided over 3 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 sub‑project of the National Basic Resource Survey Special Program, 1 sub‑project under the National Joint Breeding Research Program, 3 provincial science and technology projects of Jiangxi Province, and 1 science and technology project from the Department of Science and Technology of Jiangxi Province. He has published more than 90 academic papers, including 47 SCI papers in journals such as *Current Biology*, *Molecular Ecology*, *Entomologia Generalis*, *Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology*, *iScience* and *Insect Science*. He has won 1 Second‑class Prize of Jiangxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 Second‑class Prizes of Jiangxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, and 1 Third‑class Prize of Zhejiang Agricultural Harvest Award. He holds 15 authorized national patents.

Hundred‑Thousand‑Ten‑Thousand Talents Program and Jiangxi Young Scientist Training Program (Jinggang Star). He is Deputy Secretary‑General of the Chinese Apiculture Association, Vice‑Chair of the Honeybee Biology Professional Committee, and Chair of Jiangxi Apiculture Association. His teaching and research are mainly on the development and utilization of honeybee resources. He has led over 10 provincial‑or‑above research projects (5 from the National Natural Science Foundation of China). His awards include one Third Prize of Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Award, two Second Prizes of Jiangxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and one Second Prize of Jiangxi Provincial Technological Invention Award. He has co‑compiled textbooks: Apiculture, Honeybee Physiology, Nectar and Pollen Plant Science.

With over 30 years of beekeeping practice managing 350 hives, he chaired the organizing committee of Apimondia 2009. Author of the landmark reference book Le Traité Rustica de l’apiculture, he actively promotes bee conservation and pollinator biodiversity across Europe.
